This "Bee" Started Buzzing!

Being pregnant with a second child sure is different than being pregnant with a first child.  Having a little one already buzzing around out in the real world keeps life busy and gives this working mom very little time to think about the one that is coming.  There are a few brief, tender thoughts of baby number two (or "beebee," as Jack appropriately called him yesterday) and some quick rubs of the belly before my eyelids flutter closed at night.

And often when I do think tenderly of baby number two, it is with the accompanying guilt that I am not thinking about baby number two enough.

Well, yesterday "beebee" finally demanded some attention and started buzzing around him(her?)self!  Sitting at work listening to the voices of my teammates, this one started poking me lightly in the belly!  "Beebee" might just be buzzing around in utero for now, but it sure was fun to feel the flutter of excitement as I imagined him joining our little hive soon!

Hana's Suitcase: A True Story by Karen Levine

This is a simple, matter-of-fact biography of a young Jewish girl during the Holocaust. I read this for our regional Battle of the Books competition and thought it was a great addition to the Battle list. While I think students may not find this to be the most exciting of the books they will read, the true connection to a real person is engaging. And, with all the fictional Holocaust stories out there, it is nice to be able to tell the students that this one is real. I liked this book.
